The Construction Pipeline Forecast Tool that was created by the Scottish Futures Trust in partnership with the public sector and the construction industry has been updated.
The Forecast Tool has details of over 1,350 projects across various infrastructure sectors including housing, education, health and general civil engineering with an estimated construction value of £15.5bn across the 33 Scottish procuring authorities which have contributed to this update.
There are now over 2,000 members registered on the website, with the Forecast Tool providing them with greater transparency on future construction workloads allowing them to plan better and maintain their investment in skills and future training needs.
The Construction Pipeline Forecast Tool is now a vital element of the construction industry’s Transformation Action Plan, which was launched at the start of 2024 by the Construction Leadership Forum. Its aim is to create a thriving and high-performing construction sector, with the Pipeline helping to forecast future construction work that provides transparency and supports jobs, training and investment.
However, the tool isn’t just there to help industry. It's there to help the public sector as well. Recognising how important it is to grow the pipeline of future projects, in June Scottish Government published a Policy Note asking public bodies to support the Forecast Tool and update their pipeline data.
In doing so, public sector members will have access to other organisations’ investment plans which could enable collaboration between public bodies leading to better coordination.
